Today at the Rip Curl Pro, Bells Beach, Kolohe Andino won the final heat of round one, and of the day. And during that final heat, he took off on his first wave, wrapped under the lip, raced, floated over a section, climbed the foam to get back out on the face, sliced a cutback then raced down the line into the full rotation you see sequenced above. It was a 9.57. He then backed up with a 7.57 (on which he did a perfectly-flowed air-reverse that lost him no speed), and put together a total that’d get him well past Bells heavyweight Jordy Smith, and Damien Hobgood. Skipping to round three never felt better.
