Kobi Clemo, poolside rail slide, Oz
When you’re seven years old, you feel kinda unbreakable. You bounce off shorebreaks and concrete like a spring. Kobi Clements, however, is on another level. While most seven year olds mill around poolside, gripping the concrete with cautious excitement, Kobi comes wild for kicks and boardslides the handrail. Make no mistake – when the kid was backside boardsliding this rail in North Narrabeen pool, he caught his edge plenty, locked up, hit the rail, the whole deal. His 5’4″ took a beating, but it’s a small price to pay for a thrilling time and excellent photo. Look at that untamed hair! The intensity in that limb placement! The determination! We’re still no closer to surfing rails successfully, but with kids like Kobi taking it on this young, the cause is in good hands.
