“So, a pretty packed day,” Tweeted Jordy Smith. “Heat at the Lane, wetsuit photo shoot, then clothing shoot, then heat at the beach break, and now FOOD, don’t hold me back.” Busy guy, right? Jordy’s round two heat at the O’Neill Cold Water Classic ended with Jordy in second to Tomas Hermes, but in front of Brandon Jackson and Torrey Meister (remember four-man heats?). He’ll now front up against Bede Durbidge in the next round.
The Santa Cruz stop of the Cold Water series has been marred by lack of swell thus far, but there’s still been some amazing stuff going down. Worth noting is how many Dream Tour surfers are in the Prime event – 21 outta the top 34 are competing in Santa Cruz. Can you imagine that happening, pre-new format?
