It isn’t often that we’ll run a pulled-back lineup shot in Full Frames, but goddamn it – if this isn’t the sweetest thing. Is there anything better than a point protected from wind? On this particular day, the weather was looking a little suspicious over on Oahu so Jordy Smith and Ryan Miller jumped on a plane for Maui. “Dusty Payne and his brother Dylan both rolled out the red carpet for us and Dusty wasn’t even there,” says Ryan. “He let us stay at in his gorgeous home and his only request was not to sleep in his bed. What a pal, the place is amazing! As the North Shore was getting battered with gale force trade winds we were scoring Honolua bay. The crowd was thick but the wave was quite worth it. This was Jordy’s maiden voyage to Maui and he can’t get enough of the place.” Looking at this, can you blame him?
