Derek Peters, Approaching White Shores, Huntington Beach, CA.
This morning, Orange County saw rather unusual weather. With rain storms the night before, the morning started with the routine moody post-storm clouds and spotty sunshine. By mid morning, however, the skies darkened and white stuff began coming down by the bucket. Some say snow, some say hail. Either way, a Southern California beach covered in white is anything but normal. “As I walked down the pier I noticed Derek Peters heading out, and watched him get some fun waves by himself on south-side for almost an hour. These days, if you get an hour to yourself at the pier, you’d think hell froze over or something…this time, it was just Huntington,” recalls photographer Michael Lallande on shooting in this morning’s bizarre conditions.
