Dean Bowen, 20 years old, was raised in Geroa, on the South Coast of NSW, and surfs like a man. He regularly throws himself into mind-bendingly large waves (see above) but also throws heat on occasion in a contest singlet. He feels that gravitational pull to big swells that many big wave surfers do – if a big swell’s coming, he’s gotta be there to meet it. He was in the thick of the Cloudbreak, Fiji swell and, unsurprisingly, wet his beak in the recent Chopes swell. It sure looks dark and lonely in there, huh?
