Dane Reynolds, Dustin Miller, Killing Time in Puerto Rico
In the lay days before news broke that Andy Irons had passed away, Stab received this little image of Dane Reynolds in Puerto Rico with filmer Dustin Miller. Dustin shot most of Thrills, Spills and What Not (Dane’s indie surf movie, shot entirely on film for purism.) What better way to pass time between swells than visiting some strange ruins and filming some arty shots? Dane’ll later go on to advance to the quarterfinals where he’ll fall to Taj Burrow, but not before unleashing a barrage of hot-doggin’ on Porta Del Sol, the likes of which ain’t been seen at the place before. Matty Wilkinson’s clean and fully-rotated rodeo flip won’t even be enough to stop the Venturan. Ryan Miller, who shot this, ain’t even sure himself exactly what’s going on here. But hell, it’s a strangely cool moment. Be sure to check out our game-changing story on Dane, coming real soon. – Elliot Struck
