Christian Fletcher, OG in the OC, US
And here we find real OG Christian Fletcher, flattening out a no-grab straight air that oozes with future classic. Anyone but Christian would’ve had trouble elevating a shot like this above the shovels of air shots that float over the airwaves every day. But Christian’s been doing this since before it was cool (literally). And, fans of this gent will be pleased to know that he’s currently working on a new short film with lensman Blaine Suque, who gifts us this golden frame. “That day was in south Orange County,” says Blaine. “He seemed a little irritated with the boogie crowd earlier in the session. He came in for a smoke break after about 30 minutes, at the same time I told him my buddy was walking down to shoot some slow motion shots of him. He responded with a laugh and said, “Ok, I’ll try and do something cool.” He flicked his cigarette and paddled back out, I picked up my still camera since I had a second video guy there. First wave he caught, pumps down the line and straight up into the air with a classic CF launch, no-grab. And at his highest point he was probably like six feet out of the water. I just wasn’t in sequence mode at the time! After that he continuously landed probably about five more of those with a couple of turns before and after.” And this is how he do…
