The event window for the 40th annual Vans Triple Crown of Surfing starts today, January 3rd, and goes until January 23rd.

Of course, nobody will be waiting for the waves to get good enough to run the contest. Instead, the competitors who’ve signed up will be surfing their brains out every day for the next few weeks, hoping to stack two proper clips each at Haleiwa, Sunset, and Mama Pipeline.

If you need a refresher on the rules, you can find them here.

Notably, past monarchs John John Florence and Carissa Moore have both chosen not to reign supreme this year, so we’ll see some new faces at the top.

As a refresher, you can check all of the athletes involved this year, keep up with the rankings, and catch all the action at vanstriplecrownofsurfing.com
