Out of respect for our Stab Premium readers, we decided to withhold announcing the winner so that everyone had time to watch without the surprise being spoiled. Now it’s time to announce the winner to the world.

Without further philandering, the winner of Stab in the Dark with Jack Robinson is…Channel Islands!

The moment Britt Merrick fond out that he had won this year’s SITD title. Bottom’s up!

That’s right. The 2019 SITD with Mick Fanning winning shaper, and Carpinteria-residing Britt Merrick is this year’s Stab in the Dark champion.

“It just went way faster than all the other boards, and when I did push on it, it felt light and really held in,” said Jack proudly announcing the winner.

The CI Pro developed in conjunction with CI-lifer Parker Coffin is a tuned-up iteration on the best-selling Two Happy model. “We chose this board for SITD because it’s the latest, most high-performance thing that we are working on. (We) wanted more curve, ability to turn in tighter pockets, and so we just kept tweaking the rocker together,” said Britt. “In the lead up to this year’s SITD my confidence was low and I was having a hard time getting psyched for it honestly.”

It takes a village to raise a SITD-winning surfboard. Britt Merrick and the CI family celebrate their second SITD title.

As pointed out by one of our more astute commenters, CI had no male CT surfers on their full-time roster last year. The release of Britt’s second SITD-winning prototype coincides with Joao Chianca, Jackson Baker, and Nat Young all joining the CT with the three hexagon logo under their feet.

“We (shapers) all pretend we don’t care about Stab in the Dark, but we all care. A lot.”

Congrats to Britt and Channel Islands, and thanks as always to our tester and long-time Stab supporter, JR.

The final results:

1. Channel Islands // Britt Merrick

2. Mayhem ‘Lost Enterprises’  // Matt Biolos

3. Pukas // Axel Lorenz

4. Chilli // James Cheal
