Who’s The Top Shaper On The CT After Portugal?

3x Portugal winner Griffin Cola catapults ‘his shaper’ into even deadlier rankings lead.

“I’m not your shaper. I’m Griffin Colapinto’s shaper. I’m Carissa Moore’s shaper. I work for them, yes, but I’m not your shaper… It’s fucking possessive,” Matt Biolos notoriously remarked in How Surfers Get Paid.

This week, one of Matt Biolos’s bona fide bosses just pushed him even further ahead of the pack in the loquaciously titled Surfboard Empire CT 2026 Shaper Rankings Presented By Veia.

If you missed it (since the bulk of Stab’s audience lives in opposite time zones from Portugal), Griffin Colapinto won the MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal for the third time, making him the — Stab’s style guide banned the word winningest, but most-winning—surfer in the history of the Portugal CT.

Whoever edited this needs a raise, proper Netflixification.

Griff’s three-peat, plus a semi-final finish from Bettylou Sakura Johnson, puts Matt Biolos in first place on the shaper rankings at 165,030 points. That’s 44,960 points ahead of second-place DHD, who actually gained a lot of ground in Portugal due to team rider Molly Picklum winning the event on the Women’s side for the second year in a row.

Other highlights on the shaper rankings: World #6 Caity Simmers and World #4 Gabriel Medina were the two runner-ups in this competition — they are also the only CT surfers on their shapers’ rosters.

Mathematically, it’s impossible for anyone other than DHD to win the Shaper’s Rankings — and even then, it’s practically impossible. There are currently 50,000 points left up for grabs in the season between Cloud 9 and Pipeline. The shapers get the same amount of points the surfers do, but only from the Quarterfinals onwards, meaning that, for DHD to win, none of …Lost’s surfers (Yago, Griff, Bettylou, Carissa, etc.) could make the Quarterfinals and DHD surfers would have to scoop up nearly all 50,000 points available.

Millennial fashion is coming back — including skinny jeans and uncuffed beanies. Here’s Molly, reminding us of opening a fresh Flashbomb on Christmas morning while our parents were getting divorced due to financial strain in 2008. (Photo by Damien Poullenot/World Surf League)

The Pope has a better chance of joining a Brooklyn ayahuasca big tech polycule than that happening.

So, Matt, here’s your premature congratulations for winning the Surfboard Empire CT Shaper Rankings Presented By Veia for the second year in a row.

Now, even more people will want you to be their shaper.
