We Hit Up Nate Florence For An Interview, He Sent Us A Tube Selfie From Lance’s Right
We’ll reschedule for the reigning Stab Surfer of the Year.

Two weeks ago, I tried to track down Nathan Florence for an interview about comparing tube-riding to rock climbing… long story.
I knew the odds weren’t good, Nate’s a very busy man and Indo was very, very good, but we had settled on giving it a try whenever he could find cell service in the Ments.
Two hours after sliding into his DMs, I received this:

No hard feelings, we’d all rather he continue feeding us little piggies A+ tube content that than hop on a call to talk tomfoolery with me. I’ll be looking forward to talking with him whenever the flat spell arrives.
That aside, the video above features Nate surfing Greenbush as good as it gets. The wave is overwhelmingly beautiful and horrifying at once, and it’s a wave we never get desensitized to — no matter how much we see it in videos. This clip does a good job of showing just how much the tube at Greenbush condenses, going from an 8-foot dome to a 4-foot cylinder in short order, making safe exit exceedingly difficult.
GoPro footage fatigue is real, but in this instance it’s helpful to see just how Nate positions himself to negotiate his way out of very tricky sections.
It’s been a busy month for the Florence brothers: Ivan (who just competed at Stab High Japan Presented by Monster Energy) was just signed to his family’s eponymous brand, Florence, John John had his first kid and won the El Salvador CT event, maintaining his position as world #1, and Nate just returned from a three-week Indonesian swell bender to end all benders.
Oh, and if you want to see the Lance’s Right session that Nate teased us with over DM, the full clip can be found here:
