“Waxing Up My Quik Sticker In The Bong House… Heavy”

The latest from Summer Street goes BTS at the VPM. It’s cute, packed with homie love, sepia-tone photo collages and oddly compatible bangers from Nelly, Gwen Stefanie, XTC and Hawaiian reggae don Jah Gumby. 

One of the nice things about the VPM was the lack of traditional formalities. Surfers got to choose their heats, which is why Griffin, Crosby, Seth and Kaulana were in the same heat on day 1. Notable are their warm ups that includes: playing Kelly Slater Pro Surfer on desktop (2002), couch jiu jitsu and shadow boxing. 

Kaulana’s third-place run was one of my personal highlights of the event. Made the final arm-barring (jiu jitsu works) a Pipe bomb on a padless Pang to fetch the highest score on the men’s leaderboard. 

Griffin’s eggyness waxing his new Quik sticker at his former sponsor-of-12-years is quite funny too – although, technically not the Bong house anymore after it was sold off-market to a close friend for a rumored $6 million in October last year.
