Watch: John Florence Guides Jack Robinson Through Maiden Waimea Voyage
This is what 23 feet @ 16 seconds at The Bay looks like.
Being friends with JJF has its perks.
Half an hour after rising from his bed at the Volcom house, Jack Robinson was tucked in a truck with a fully tractioned Pyzel, en route to Waimea Bay for the first time with John and Ivan Florence leading the charge.
For a Waimea debut, it looks like Jack fared well. His debut wave in the clip looked funky, to be polite, lurching and holding him in the lip before flinging him down the face faster than a ripe coconut falling from a palm tree.
Those fortunate enough to buy or watch the film for a limited time for free on our site will recognize many of the waves (including that airdrop at 4:54) from John’s latest film, Gravity. This session from the North Shore last winter also featured a few Stab editors in the lineup, taking off on slightly smaller peaks than John.
Jack and John have spent a lot of time on the North Shore together, and the clip above is yet another look into their relationship off the tour. As fair compensation, let’s hope Jack can return the favor this year and give John his first taste of The Right. One can dream.
