‘The Secret To Rail Surfing Is Getting Fat’
Force = mass x acceleration, Robbie Rickard confirms an old theory w/ a new Systm.
Validation as a foam mower is seeing good surfers rip your boards.
Systm surfboards are shaped by Coby Perkovich, the multi-talented Monster Air winner from the OG Stab Highway. Coby, who turns 30 in May, has been shaping boards for many years out of a shared workspace owned by Mark Cormack with Dead Kooks and Harry Fried on the Gold Coast. They pump out an impressive number of boards for a small team, and recently he signed his first ‘official’ teamrider, Robbie Rickard.
Robbie, a rail guy, liking Systms is especially validating because unlike Cobs his rails rarely leave the water (he’s scared of heights). See their brief Q&A below where Robbie divulges the secret to rail surfing (spoiler alert: it’s not Wave Ki).
C.P – “What did you do today?”
R.R – “I worked today, had to weld a bunch of stuff for an old machine that is getting moved to a new factory.”
C.P – “Current 5 songs you have been vibing?”
R.R – ”50-0 – Bashfortheworld”, ”Portland – The Replacements”, ”Is it a crime – Sade”, ”Homecoming – Tom T Hall”, ”Damn I wish I was your lover – Sophie B Hawkins”
C.P – “Favourite beer?”
R.R – “Tooheys New”
C.P – “Secret to rail surfing?”
R.R – “Get fat!”
C.P – “What are you scared of?
R.R – “Definitely scared of heights (legit)
C.P – “Last road rage incident?”
R.R – “Hahahaha, I had a funny one a couple of weeks ago where this bloke and I were yelling at each other, then he made this jerk off motion with his hand then I started laughing, and he started laughing, then we both were like nah you’re alright ay”
C.P – “Favourite board and why?”
R.R – “Favourite board right now is the Nightmare, it carries so much speed and drive. It just makes high performance surfing so enjoyable and easy. Feels super comfortable and natural
C.P – Thanks Rob x
R.R – My pleasure bruv
