The Right: Warts + All, From All Angles

As seen through the lens of Chris White.

Chris White is a WA-based photographer, fisher, jiu jitsu practitioner, podcast host (see: The Grin Reapers) and the star of the next Best Surfing I’ve Ever Seen (BSIES) episode coming soon on Stab Premium.

“I do feel a little whorish putting out a clip like this. In the old days of Tension I would never dream of blowing out a session before the premiere night. I still go back and forth on saving clips or releasing them. I have managed to find some middle ground on this clip, saving the best waves of bodyboarder Lewy Finnegan for my next movie. I also swapped some water footage with Cian Salmon as he is working on a clip with Zac Haynes and his best wave wasn’t included in the edit.”

Chris continues, “I do admire Nathan Florence and everything he is doing. After chatting with him, I’m convinced that releasing behind the scenes stuff is the way to go, otherwise 90% of what you shoot is wasted and never seen. The only downside I see is the potential to increase crowds at spots … but is it selfish to not want people to experience the joy this wave brings? Hopefully this edit captures the stoke we all have out there, and if it means a few more people end up in the channel and they’re smiling and stoked like us, I won’t be complaining, cos life is about sharing, loving, enjoying and caring for one another. Fuck all the other bullshit!”

Cheers!

Whitey
