The Most Popular Board Of Yester-Year Just Got An Upgrade
The Hypto Krypto has a twin.
In 2016, Craig Anderson rode a 5’4 Hypto Krypto in bombing Kandui. The result? The surf photo of the year. It ran on the cover of The Surfer’s Journal and across scrolling thumbs of surf enthusiasts globally. It raised the question: How versatile is Haydenshapes best-selling blade?
Since then, the Haydenshapes crew has doubled down on their most famous creation, designing spin-off models of the Hypto Kyrpto that are more condition-specific. A year or so back, they released the HK step-up, which makes performances like Craig’s more realistic for the rest of us. Their newest model, the Hypto Krypto Twin, is better geared toward the fun stuff.
According to HS, the twin iteration features, “a slightly tighter swallow tail and fins set further back to set the tail into the wave and bring control and smooth rail to rail transition. It feels and rides very similar to the Hypto Krypto with the wide point set forward, high volume up under the chest, and concaves that are smooth and fast to surf on. It is a great all round keel fin twin design that will feel comfortable under your feet in all types of waves.”
The Hypto Krypto is one of the best-selling board models of all time. With twins and alt-craft making a renaissance, we will almost certainly be seeing HS’s flying off the racks once again.
