Man Dies After Collision While Surfing At Rincon Point
A truly unfortunate accident.
A 51-year-old man named Gerry Gilhool died after colliding with another surfer at Rincon Point. Gilhool was knocked unconscious and taken to Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura, where he was later pronounced dead. Both surfers suffered head injuries, but the other was able to drive himself to the hospital.
Capt. Victor Medina from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office declared the collision as an accident.
According to VC Star:
Gilhool had worked as tour manager for the band Dawes, according to a long-time friend. Singer and actress Mandy Moore, who is married to the band’s lead singer and songwriter, Taylor Goldsmith, also posted about Gilhool on the social media platform.
