Pro Surfer To Build The World’s Largest Standing Wave
Papa Beschen got a new toy.
Created by Citywave, in collaboration with Shane Beschen, The Wai Kai Wave, will be the world’s largest standing deep water wave. Development of the wave has begun in Ewa Beach, Hawaii.
Standing at 100ft wide, the wave can be divided into 3 smaller sections. If 33 feet isn’t enough space, the dividers can be removed, leaving all 100 ft of fun for just one person. Beschen and the developers believe the extra space will help run events and contests.
Deepwater waves allow surfers to use their own boards and fins without having to worry about scraping the bottom—basically, an empty canvas for big carves and cutbacks.
The pool over looks the 52-acre Wai Kai Lagoon, and is set to open in 2022.
