Nathan Florence’s Spooky Visions From Friday 13th XXL Teahupoo Swell
Scary monsters in Tahiti.
Sometimes raw clips do it best.
Daniel Kahneman, the Nobel prize winning psychologist made a distinction between the experiencing self and the remembering self.
The experiencing self, is the state in which you are now in this moment, while the remembering self is a future you, reflecting on this moment. Certain experiences tend to be remembered more fondly than they were experienced, and vice versa, fond experiences can be distorted by the way they are remembered.
Raw clips are the least processed form of surf content. The input and the outputs correlate highly with little distortion in the middle. Raw clips don’t tell you a story, they show you one unfolding. It is the content of the experiencing self.
On Friday the 13th at Teahupoo, Tahiti, a massive swell hit, sending waves into the lagoon for the first time since the code red swell in August, 2011. Some of the biggest waves ridden this year came after it.
Allow Nathan Florence’s raw clips to take you there.
The energy is real.
