LIVE: CT Vets Are Getting Rinsed In The Challenger Series
Pays to be fresh off the Q in four-man heats at piddly Snapper.
Watch live here.
We’re five heats into the day and five former or current CT surfers have been eliminated. That’s 100% of them, including last year’s Snapper winner Callum Robson.
Interesting.
There’s a few key differences between the CS and CT format. Most notably, four man heats (until Rd/16), shorter heats (20 minutes), no losers round, and 62 more surfers in the field. The waves haven’t shown up today, despite a promising forey. Too south and too windy.
The takeaway so far is that being specialized to grovel in sloppy conditions more typical of the QS is a major asset. We’ll see if that pattern holds.
Also speaks to how drastic an adjustment it requires to win heats on the CT – and how short a time five events is to find your footing before the cut.
