Kolohe Versus Griffin, Round 732
Two Percent’s two heavyweights tee off.
Dennet Oyanguren cut straight to it.
“I’m here because Kolohe is Gnar and so is Griff,” reads the top comment on Two Percent’s Last Week clip, featuring the two San Clemente heavyweights bashing brown water in their backyard.
I’m inclined to agree with Dennet.
While the San Clemente sands run thick with talent, Kolohe and Griffin are Orange County’s crème de la crème, from T-Street to Greenbush. Both Mayhem poster children, with a priority at Lowers afforded to very few.
Though this clip is less than two minutes long, and not all that different from what we’ve seen from them before, it comes at a very interesting time in their respective careers.
For the first time in 10.5 years, Kolohe will swap his CT robe for CS cloth, joining Griffin’s younger brother, Crosby Colapinto, for a six-event shuffle from May-October. Brother seems to be at peace with the change.
As a kid, Griffin was the dimple-faced grom who (literally) looked up to Kolohe’s air reverses. Now, Griffin is a 2x CT event winner after five years on tour and poised to (finally) get a Final 5 spot at Lowers.
Regardless of what happens on tour(s), I hope they can still link up for sessions like the one linked above.
Also, who won the heat?
