After a highly successful multi-coast film tour, ‘Reckless Isolation’ has finally been released by Red Bull TV for the broader public to consume and enjoy.

The brainchild of Kolohe Andino, who directed, produced, and edited the film alongside Jacob Vanderwork, ‘Reckless Isolation’ captures the journey of five San Clemente surfers — Kolohe, Ian Crane, Luke Davis, and Griffin and Crosby Colapinto — around the Mentawai Islands over the course of a month in mid-2020.

In the early days of the pandemic, Indonesia had shut its borders to tourists, leaving the typically inundated Mentawai Islands almost completely empty. Using their local connections and a fair bit of elbow grease, Kolohe and crew were able to enter the country, secure a charter boat, hire ex-pat lensmen Scotty Hammonds and Nate Lawrence, and sail around surfing’s Disneyland during its peak swell season. The result is a post-modern mix between ‘September Sessions’ and ‘…Lost at Sea’.

Highlights include: Griffin’s impossible tube at 13:00; the slab section at 23:00; Kolohe’s condemnation of airs at 32:00; The Greenbush section at 36:30

Enjoy!
