John Florence Breaks Down The Pecking Order At Pipeline

John John Florence recently featured on GQ’s series The Breakdown. The two-time world champion breaks down the surf scenes of big Hollywood films, including forgetting Sarah Marshall,’ ‘Blue Crush,’ ‘Point Break,’ ‘Orange County,’ ‘Chasing Mavericks,’ ‘Lilo and Stitch’ and ‘Surf’s Up.’

As a magazine that appeals to the commoner (but features not so ordinary people), GQ has John explain some of surfing’s basics: proper stance, the pecking order at Pipe, and identifying a tow board. Basically, we learned that production teams know little about our precious surf world, and they haven’t bothered to do any research.
