Jared Muscat Uses Surfing To Cope With Epilepsy
“If you want me to be stress free, I can’t be salt free.”
Jared Muscat had his first epileptic seizure when he was a teenager. Seizures can be triggered by stress, so his doctor told him it would be wise to give up surfing.
Jared, however, found that surfing provided him with holistic healing. It helped him manage stress and stay emotionally centered.
According to Muscat, he wants to help others with epilepsy do the same:
I am helping organize an event in south New Jersey, Seize the Wave, to give surf lessons to young kids with epilepsy. As part of this event the Heritage Surf Shop will be leading the surf lessons and South Jersey Boardriders Club will be hosting a little expression session so the groms can see the local pros go big up close and personal (Rob Kelly and Ben Gravy are leading that part of it).
