“I’ve Never Had It Better Than Now… There’s More Opportunity Than Ever”
Mark Healey opens up about career moves, bow hunting, and becoming a father in this short film.
“Never before has the ball been in the individual professional surfer’s court like it is now,” said Mark Healey in a recent interview with Sam McIntosh for the next season of How Surfers Get Paid.
Mark Healey has now been a professional surfer for 24 years. He got his first contract at 17 years old and it paid him $500 a month — just enough to pay rent at what is now JOB’s Pipeline palace.
Now, with an O’ahu pad of his own and a family to support, Mark has a busy career, juggling professional surfing, bow hunting, stunt work, and now his latest venture, Protekt — which he is a part owner of.
We won’t reveal much, as we will hear more of Mark Healey’s story in Season Two of How Surfers Get Paid. But suffice it to say that Mark makes more than $500 a month now…
In Mark’s own words, Protekt is, “…a company we started three years ago. It’s a wellness brand. So we’re doing hydration, immunity, energy, rest. We have sunscreen, for example. it’s all mineral based. None of that crap that’s getting yanked off of shelves right now for giving people cancer. And we have mushroom complex supplements for your brain that help with clarity and focus.
We just identified all the things that we need in our day-to-day life and put it in a way to use that’s most easy to stick to a routine.”
In this video, you get a brief glance at Mark’s life — a man who is prospering by living simply.
