Gallery: Zipper Breaks Ground In Australia And California
Connecting fabric —and diametrically opposed professional surfers — together.
Look down at your zipper.
Odds are it has the initials YKK stamped into the back of it — YKK standing for Yoshida Kōgyō Kabushikigaisha, the zipper megalodon that makes over 50% of all the zippers in the world (7 billion a year).
Zipper, our full-length surf film dropping this Thursday, April 11th is a bit of a departure from our usual attempts at surf storytelling through tension drive, idea focused narratives. With Zipper much of the entertainment onus is on the surfing and the music. However, much like YKK, we’ve still stylistically stamped ourselves into the film, weaving conversations and ideas as stitches between the audiovisual entrees.
Following Chippa Wilson as he connects with Filipe Toledo, Bobby Martinez, Eithan Osborne, Taro Watanabe, Dion Agius and Harry Bryant, Zipper is a 44 minutes spectrum of surfing, from the urban piers of Santa Monica to heavy South Pacific reefs — set to songs you’ve probably never heard of before (some of them were made just for this film).
To celebrate, we’ve hosted four premieres in the past week in Sydney, Byron Bay, San Diego, and Los Angeles. Here is a Baker’s Denary of photos from the premieres.
