On Europeans, Cigarettes, And Surfing Better
November’s Comment of the Month probes the merits of carcinogens in your surfing life.
Is Stab back to clickbaiting?
Hopefully not, but we thought we do it this time, if only to highlight one of our rising starts in the comment section, Dion’s tribal print.
It would be an insult to every reader’s intelligence for us to lay out all the detrimental, fatal, inarguable consequences of smoking. So we won’t here. In the words of that old curmudgeon American politician John McCarthy, “Self-righteousness has killed more people than smoking.”
Without further hurrah, here’s November’s COTM, which appeared on Erwin Bliss’s (who’s from Guadeloupe but spends most of his time in Europe) Stab Edit of the Year entry:
And while this quote is deliciously sardonic, cigarettes are mounting another comeback. A week ago, The Atlantic published an article titled “The Allure of Smoking Rises Again: The cool factor of cigarettes has proved hard to shake” outlining that while smoking in the U.S. is at an 80-year low, use is actually rising in other parts of the world and is becoming more common and less taboo in celebrity circles.
But we all know most — nicotine-inclined — professional surfers use Zyns **iMessage invisible ink feature**.
Dion’s Tribal Print, please send us an email at [email protected] with screenshot proof of your Disqus account — you just won a free year of Stab Premium and you will be entered in the running for the mega-prize for “Comment of the Year” at then end of, you guessed it, the year.
If you remember from this article, Dion will now be one of 12 commenters (one for each month) that will be a candidate for COTY. He’ll be sparring against 11 other Uma Thurmans for top honors.
Happy abstaining (or not).
