Board Barrons Trade Labcoats For Laybacks In Mexico
Two G-Bros and Kaito Ohashi clock in down south.
In the corporate world, “research and development” conjures certain images in the mind’s eye.
In healthcare, it’s the white lab coat and a needle (and maybe mild side effects). If you’re in tech, R&D means microchips and overpriced AirPods (looking at you, Tim Apple.)
In the surfing industrial complex, R&D looks different. New trunks mean a trip to the Ments, right boss? If you work for Channel Islands, R&D means freshly poured resin. And if you’re really well behaved (and talented) it means dialing in new boards on a surf trip. CI recently scheduled highly respected test subjects Kaito Ohashi and two-thirds of the Gudauskas brothers (Tanner and Dane) onto a shift on warm water assembly lines to test an unusual array of equipment.
In envy-inducing Mexican rights, the crew unveils some twins and thruster prototypes, as well as a certain Channel Islands x FORMER collab, the ‘Twad. The name feels kinda dirty, but in a good way. Strenuous work, this R&D. But someone has to do it.
