Wave Pool Clips Aren’t Leaving Any Time Soon
Chelsea Tuach puts in her hours at URBN SURF Melbourne.
Over the last twelve months, Melbourne’s URBN SURF has been a refuge for many surfers looking to stay sharp and polish their skills. Chelsea Tuach, a pro surfer from Barbados, was among the surfers that got stuck in Australia last February and spent the last 11 months immersed down under.
“I was stuck. I had a best friend’s wedding in September that I literally couldn’t get to. I wasn’t bummed though, had great waves, and was surrounded by good humans,” Chelsea said. For a long time, I wasn’t trying to get home because I was happy there, but when I tried to get home for the wedding it was a really strange feeling realizing I literally couldn’t get there.”
A bizarre feeling indeed, being stuck in a foreign country for almost a year. Lucky for Chelsea, she found herself in a chlorine dream, smashing crystal copings (that first backhand waft) and hiding in translucent tubes far away from the crowded coastlines.
