Barron Mamiya, Matahi Drollet & North Shore Lifeguards Save A Life At Keiki
“Kid is lucky to be alive.” – Kyle Foyle
A 20-year-old Idaho visitor expressed his gratitude to the lifeguards who rescued him from the waters off of Ke Iki Beach on Oahu’s North Shore. “I thought I was going to die,” said the 20-year-old to the lifeguards that rescued him.
Kyle Foyle told Stab, “A young kid from Idaho jumped in the water at Kei’iki at 6pm. Only me and another lieutenant were on duty. Luckily, Matahi and Barron were surfing the shorebreak and grabbed the guy and pulled him out. I responded and swam out to him with fins and a tube. The other lieutenant grabbed the ski from Hale’iwa and raced to get us in the dark. We got him and took him to Waimea. Kid is lucky to be alive. Pretty nuts being in the dark.”
The man swallowed water and was treated, but did not go to the hospital. For what to do in an emergency situation, refer to Ep 5 of the Pick Up, where Kyle Foyle walks through what to do in the event of a spinal injury.
