A Former World Champ To Host A Handful Of Future Hopefuls
EDP’s Surf For Tomorrow Season 3 premieres tomorrow night in Ericeira.
Hard work wins World Titles.
Exhibit A: Adriano de Souza.
Even though he won the World Junior Championships in 2003 — at 16, the youngest to do it at the time — not many people outside his circle believed he’d take top honors on the CT.
In 2015, he proved the world wrong at Pipeline.
Now happily retired with his World Title trophy on display, Adriano’s been devoting more of his time to up-skilling the next gen of World Title hopefuls. Thus, he’s about to make a cameo in EDP’s Surf For Tomorrow series.
Now entering its third season, Surf For Tomorrow pulls you inside the world of competitive junior surfing. Under the wing of Portugal’s first-ever CT surfer, Tiago Pires, as well as master coach Zé Seabra, a group of European teenagers puts in the work to pursue their dreams — though it’s not always sunshine and rainbows.
This season features Hans Odriozola, Kai Odriozola, Janire Etxabarri, and Matias Canhoto. If you don’t recognize those names, you will soon — two of them have already won QS events.
As a bonus, the series is shot and produced by some of the handiest filmmakers in Europe. Season 3, Episode 1 is premiering tomorrow evening in Ericeira. Rumor has it Adriano himself will make a cameo. But, if you happen to live an ocean or two away, Stab will share the episode here on our site early next week.
Stay tuned.
