This Is a Different Type Of French Surfing
Ian Fontaine joins Manera’s emblematic surf roster on the frigid shores of Brittany.
The Manera aesthetic is admirable. The sleek neoprene products are complemented by an elegant roster of team riders and elaborate short films.
The latest edition to the Manera team, Ian Fontaine, hails from France’s bitterly cold Northwest Region, Brittany. The winters are harsh, but Fontaine claims the toughened environment fuels his passion for surfing.
Manera and Ian’s latest short film ‘Brummen’ highlights the beauty in the gloomy French coastline. No suntans or soul is arching in boardshorts for Fontaine; His pace is more along the lines of a hooded 5 mil and secluded breaks. Ian loves lonely sessions at remote waves.
