How’s He Doing Airs On A 9-Pound, 35 Liter Surfboard?
Old board, new owner.
At it again, Harley Walters is buying surfboards from the stone age and showing them views from above the lip. This week’s blast from the past is an early 80’s Vintage Aleeda Surfboard. Harley snagged it off eBay for $180 AUD (about $140 USD). After a few ding repairs and a tail pad modification, this thing was ready to hit the water again—all 35 liters of it.
From this week’s excerpt, we learned that you don’t need the lightest equipment to launch a proper straight air. This antique weighs a solid 8.3 lbs. Harley’s standard shorty only weighs about 4.8 lbs. Despite the heftiness of the board, Harley had no issues whipping this board around. Tasteful surfing with a technique that it is difficult not to applaud.
