Big Man Faces Much Bigger Hunk Of Indian Ocean

Full disclosure; what you’re gazing at above isn’t a moment from the super(hyped)swell steamrolling its way past Western Australia towards Indonesian waters.

No, it’s Kerby Brown and a tumbling tower of terror from the downgraded ‘warmup’ pulse of last week that struck Australia’s north west, just days before we tuned in to watch Jack Robbo school the locals at Padang.

Does that make it less worthy of a feature here on Stab Full Frame?

Go ahead, slide Mr Brown a message and tell him that his untimely efforts wrangling this green mass of Indian Ocean don’t deserve airplay – we insist!

“This Slab is one of Kerby’s favourite spots,” lensman Mike Riley told Stab after the fact.

“He wont hesitate to drive 10 hours in the middle of the night if there is any chance of this turning on. This time it seems he made the right choice.

“We had a morning session out there and it was a bit slow, he got a couple ok waves, but he was never going to be satisfied with an “ok” one.

“We gave it a couple hours and let the swell fill in a bit more and we got back out there. The afternoon session turned on for us with some amazing light and some solid swell hitting the ledge. Kerbs got a couple of sick ones, but this wave that came about 30 min before dark was by far the biggest one we had seen all day.

“This thing looked huge as he let go of the rope, flew down the face and pulled up in to one of the squarest barrels I have ever witnessed! Just an other day at the office for Mr. Brown. His only complaint, ‘it could have been bigger.'”
