Albee rolls with a crew of Hawaiian heavy hitters anywhere he goes. On this particular trip to West Oz, his company included the likes of Bruce Irons, John John Florence, and Matt Meola. Talk about strength of squad #onpoint. “We had high hopes for this day, but the swell direction was a little off, so it was pretty slow and there was a bit of a crew on it,” says our photographer, Chris Gurney. “I swam out early with John John and the rest of the boys caught a boat ride out a couple hours later. Albee sat away from the pack and stroked into four or five of these wide double-ups, which actually turned out to be some of the better waves that came through. In between, he pulled into waves sitting on his board and even found a couple of big ramps. I love shooting out there and it’d been more than a year since the last time I got to do it, so I was psyched to document Albee’s purple patch.”
