Snaketales Offers A Fresh Batch Of Q-Slaves In 2019

Shall we bet on their qualification odds?

This year’s QS 6,000s are officially underway and what does that mean?

Overwhelming Brazilian dominance, of course, but also a new season of Snaketales!

Start-of-the-season Snaketales are often the best Snaketales, as they introduce a new cast of characters with whom we can share the highs and lows of another QS season.

Below we’ll list the new Snaktales students, and you can decide who is most likely to qualify come year’s end.

Nat Young (USA): Known for his vicious backhand and his sun-kissed skin, Nat spent several successful years on the CT before falling off in 2016. He’s since found limited success on the QS and likely hired Snake to help him navigate the modern qualifying system.

Mihimana Braye (PFT): A Tahitian goofy-foot with a penchant for power, we admittedly know very little about Mihimana but he’s clearly got shades of Michel, along with an Italo-esque backside whip. But how hard must it be to leave Tahiti for the Q?

Eithan (pronounced Ay-tahn) Osbourne (USA): Air kid from Ventura, accidentally won a QS in Israel this year and realized he could qualify for the Tour. Eithan has more kinetic energy than a ballon in a sweater and can walk quite impressively on his hands.

Ethan Ewing (AUS): Despite a likeness in namesake, Ethan is Eithan’s foil. Rail-based, technique-driven surfing is what makes Ethan so lethal in the jersey, and it’s all tied into his quiet, endlessly patient persona. Several (notable) people have called Ethan’s the best style in 2019.

Hiroto Ohhara (JPN): If Ethan has the best modern style, could we agree that Hiroto has the best small wave technique? From a functional standpoint, this diminutive shredder surfs perfectly. There are no flaws. He’s like a little remote-control surfer. It’s such a joy to witness.

So, who’s your money on?
