The Best Wave At Pipe Today (So Far)
Mark Healey on a second reef bomb.
The North Shore was bombarded by another big swell today. Not quite as big as the one which illuminated the outer reefs and amazed onlookers at Jaws last week, but one large enough to shut down Sunset and send Pipe into a second reef feather-fest.
Pipe’s being firing all today – well, depending on what your perception of firing is – and those with big boards (and bigger balls) gave it a proper nudge. Mark Healey was one of those surfers, and above he rolled into the best wave of the day (so far).
There might not be any stomach-dropping freefall when you’re chipping in from second reef. But there’s no discounting the width of the barrel that awaits, and the eruption from the beach the second someone escapes.
This is far from the only tube packed today, so as the sun sets on Oahu, keep your eyes fixated for more North Shore content.
