Watch: Harry Bryant In ‘Hazmania’

“Haz went nuts, throwing himself over that ledge literally a five day walk from civilisation.”

Harry fucking Bryant. We adore him. And we’re certainly not afraid to publicly declare it. Whether it be through amplifying his edits or getting him to star our own shoots, we’ve no problem splashing that bowl cut across all facets of stabmag.com. He’s like a bogan Mason Ho. Honest. Entertaining!

Today Harry and his pals at Zion Wetsuits handed over his most recent produce, Hazmania. Six minutes cut from a late summer trip to Van Diemen’s Land, modernly referred to as Tasmania (see what they did there?). It’s brimming with novelty. Strange waves that bounce, collide, and tunnel. Most you’ve probably never seen before and Mr Bryant gives every one of them a red hot go.

The man behind the lens, Ryan Mattick tells Stab that they walked for 30 kilometres, through pestering march flies and rugged wilderness to reach some of the waves above. Dedicated huh?

“Tazzy is home to the biggest Specimens in Australia, if not the world,” Harry explains. “The specimen scene is bigger than you think, it’s almost like the whole place was once riddled with convict’s. That stint in Taz was a cook up for the ages, there was no stone left unturned and no specimen left unseen. I actually got diagnosed with “Da Chron” (Chronic Fatigue) after that week, it was so full on.”

And that hideous rock shelf in the dying minutes?

“We came across a natural granite rock harbour with a great fucking left out the back that resembled something just like what we get at home on the NSW south coast,” says Ryan. “We waited out the weather another day and this thing just turned on. Haz went nuts, throwing himself over that ledge literally a five-day walk from civilisation. I tell ya, the kid is an animal, and that five-day walk back wasn’t fun!”

“Given the post slab elation we thought it only right to have that session cut to obscure 80’s romance synth. A poetic curveball that tells our trip better than words ever could.”
