More Intelligent PR From Wavegarden

French power couple Joan Duru and Maud Le Car take The Cove for a spin.

Yes, the florescent Basque pond is back in our feed. Coincidentally overlapping with Stab’s revelation of the details surrounding Kelly Slater’s first scheduled event in Lemoore.

Wavegarden first pulled the curtain on their response to KSWC with a strategically cropped video three months back. It tubed, it sectioned, it could allegedly run right and left and, if they dialled it to eleven, could spit out a thousand waves an hour. Enticing? Absolutely!

Next Filipe Toledo, Sebastian Zietz, Gabriel Medina, Matty Wilko and Josh Kerr hopped in. High performance capabilities were tested. Limitations were obvious, but didn’t take away from the potential for abundant mellow thrills. Now they’ve fired their machine up for another CT surfer and his pro surf girlfriend to share a session. Come on in, the water’s just fine!

French goofy footer, Joan Duru, speaks of The Cove having 25 types of waves to choose from (variety, another win!). They surf ten of them during their stay.

According to their recount, the ‘turn wave’ is surfed from the back corner of the pool, with no tubing sections, ideal for “big turns and carves,” reports Joan. He goes on to describe another similar wave with a little more punch, “a little bit like Snapper.”

Maud tells of a hollower variant designed for a head dip (though supporting evidence fails to appear). “My favourite one was the one for the maneuvres,” the dazzling Maud Le Car declares to the camera with a smile.

In several weeks the tour will brush past Wavegarden’s Spanish prototype. Safe to assume we’ll catch a glimpse of the other 15 variants in action – after Kelly’s contest, that is.
