#TOURNOTES: John John Florence vs Waimea Bay

“I’ve never seen an explosion that big in front of me,” says John on his free back adjustment courtesy of the bay last Friday. Here Mr Florence gives us the low down on the North Shore action last Friday. He tried to make it to Jaws and was relieved he didn’t when he saw how serious the conditions were out there. So instead he grabbed his green 10’4″ and charged Waimea with Kelly Slater and his brother Nathan. There was carnage. “I didn’t pull my vest,” Mr Florence says, “I only pull my vest when I’m panicking.” Good news for all of us who are dying to see the Eddie run, a swell’s on the way and it’s looking as big as the last one with better conditions.
