In the lead-up to the 2013 Billabong Pro, Tahiti, there ain’t been a whole lot of surfing going on. But there’s been a lot of good times going on. Like this, a drizzly, golden sunset campfire, with cold beer and an ocean view in the way that only Tahiti can deliver. “Life’s good for these guys even when the waves haven’t kicked in yet,” says photog Dom Mosqueira, who shot this, and Stab agrees. Joel Parkinson, pictured next to the embers, currently sits at third on the world tour rankings. He won the world title last year, he won the last event (Keramas), and he was in the 2012 Chopes final. Sure, the forecast is small and we’ve been told on good authority that goofyfooters will be all the rage, but you really never know what’s gonna happen so long as a man like Joel is still in the mix. But tomorrow, we shall see. Find out what goes down, here.
