Surf100 is a wave riding exposition that takes place over a single, 100-minute period and is judged live, at a later date, by the internet.
It’s been five years since we cooked up our first Surf100 and, after a four-year hiatus, we’re back.
On September 17th of 2025 we’ll be hosting our fourth audience judged, 100 minute freesurfing contest. This year, the event returns to California and has a $100,000 prize purse, thanks to Pacifico.
Door will open to our in-person premiere at 6:00 PM, and the broadcast will start at 6:50
The idea for Surf100 was born in 2020, when we sent San Clemente’s favorite sons Kolohe Andino, Griffin Colapinto, and Ian Crane out for a 100-minute wave riding demonstration at Lower Trestles — and we let our audience choose the winner.
After that, we scored hulking North Point tubes with Jack Robinson, Jay Davies, Jacob Willcox and Kael Walsh — then we invited Mikey February, Mason Ho, and Dane Reynolds to an empty Mexican point break.
Though the formats have varied slightly, the concept is the same. We send a few surfers with hot mics into a pulsing lineup and record 100 minutes of surfing. Then, we play the session back with live commentary and ask our audience to be the judges. The surfer with the best two waves wins.
Thanks to Pacifico, we created the Surf100 Challenge Series (which you can watch here). We invited 8 surfers to compete in seven challenges, all gunning two spots in our Surf100 finale — which will be the same 100-minute live format as our past events. In the end, our first two finalists; the surfers who survived the pressurized elimination challenges — were Eithan Osborne and Sebastian Williams.
The other two spots in our finale? They’ll be filled by a couple of pre-seeded A-listers, who had the credentials to bypass the Challenge Series.
With 9 Championship Tour event wins and a slew of timeless movie parts between them, Bobby Martinez and Julian Wilson need little introduction.
So who will the Stab Audience deem worthy of $100,000? Tune in live on September 17th to help make the decision.
Sebastian Williams:
With a new child and a new sponsor, the 25-year old Mexican natural footer was nearly flawless through the entirety of our Challenge series. Though he’s a man of few words, he placed first in multiple challenges and never flirted with elimination.
After dominating the first half of the challenges, Sebastian calmly asserted his aerial abilities in Waco, then went to Santa Cruz stomped the two biggest full rotations of the series. He was the first surfer to clinch his spot in our Surf100 Finale.

Eithan Osborne:
The 25-year old Stab High winner was anything but a sure bet through our Surf100 Challenge Series. Through each challenge, Eithan oscillated between technical brilliance, emotional meltdowns, and gritty comebacks, all with a touch of his humorous thrash metal approach.
He snapped boards, landed switch airs, knocked his shoulder out of its socket, and threw more than a few healthy middle fingers to onlookers and the ocean. After an inspired showing at Waco, Eithan clinched his spot in our $100,000 finale by eliminating Rasta Robb in our last challenge.

Julian Wilson:
“The format is pretty sick, and something that I’m hell keen for,” said Julian Wilson, in the leadup to this event. “I guess the winner will just be doing the surfing that the public wants to see, which is sick.”
If you’re questioning why we invited the 5x CT winner well, then… grow up. At 36-years of age, Julian is now the proud owner of his own blossoming brand, and he’s been making a return to his competitive roots. After half a decade away from competitions, Jules has collected a pair of Stab High invites in recent years and dropped the most exciting WSL wildcard showing of 2025 at the Burleigh CT. In short, Julian’s version of mid-life crisis is looking more appealing than most.

Bobby Martinez:
Whether for his beloved straight talk, his drivey bottom turns, or his boyish grin — Bobby Martinez is one of the few names in surfing that conjures unanimous admiration.
Throw in a storied Championship Tour career with event wins in Tahiti and Mundaka, and you have a man who most certainly deserves a direct seed into our main event. At 43-years old, Bobby is by far the oldest surfer in this year’s Surf100. But, if you stopped by Rincon during a swell this last winter, you’ll know the inferno of his rail-bound passion hasn’t dulled.

This finale has already been filmed, but not judged. Meaning, there’s no winner yet. It’s up to you who walks home with $100k.
Like in previous Surf100s, our competitors will still have 100 minutes to get their top two scores — and this is where you come in.
As a Stab Premium member and Surf 100 judge, you’ll be responsible for scoring the waves, and in the process, put yourself in the running to earn an injection of excitement to your quiver — a brand new surfboard from JS Industries.
Here’s how it works. When a surfer stands up on a scoring wave, you’re going to see a ‘score now’ icon pop up on screen. After assessing the wave’s quality, scroll beneath the Surf100 video player and find the relevant surfer scoreline.
Drag the widget between 0 to 100 until it displays your desired score. Then, hit submit to lock in your number. You’ll have 60 seconds after each wave to determine its score.
Now you’re probably wondering, how the hell do I win that board? Well, we’ll be taking the average score on each wave, from all of our audience judges. The person whose scores are closest to that average throughout the entire event will walk home with a fresh board from JS.
Our live, in-person finale will be hosted at JS Industries in Oceanside, CA on September 17th from 6pm to 9pm.
We’ll have free food from Fireball Pizzeria and Shoots Fish & Beer, free Pacificos for those of you who are 21+, and free merch for the first 150 people through the door
We’d love to see you there, and we’ll be setting up an RSVP page soon.
If you can’t make it, all you’ll need to watch and judge is a Stab Premium account. Once you’re a member, all you’ll have to do is return to this page — or the homepage of stabmag.com.
