Mikey Wright, between the posts at Lennox Heads, NSW

Mikey Wright’s been making some noise lately, which isn’t always easy to do in a sea of blonde, air-reversing kids who wanna make some noise. Younger bro of Owen and Tyler, Mikey had a good swing in Hawaii this season (he’s only 16) and recently popped up in WeetBix commercial with Steph Gilmore. Oh, and, perhaps not as glamourous as Pipeline, P Pass or national cereal commercials, he also gifted us a Stab FM mix. All that aside, this is Mikey surfing at home in Lennox Head, a smallish coastal town with a killer pointbreak, 20 mins south of Byron Bay. This is right out front of the surf club, and as Shannon Mackie (who shot this) says, “Of course the only waves were where the flags were. So, we had to sneak out before the lifeguards told us to beat it.”
