Chippa Wilson and the brave new frontside spin, Cabarita, NSW
Chip Wilson is serious about surfing. It eats him alive, drinks his blood, crumbles his bones (but not literally). All the photos in Stab‘s latest print feature on the man (which you can see in issue 66, now on sale), were stolen from a one hour session at back beach Cabarita. And this sequence, this high key spin, has become something of a legend in Chip’s hometown. “Did you happen to be there? Did you get it?” surfers ask the photographer Matt O’Brien whenever he swings into Cabarita. “He hasn’t been hurt yet which is amazing for how hard he lands,” says Matt. *But, most importantly: Chippa, along with plenty of other cats you really dig (John John, Taj, Gabriel, Kolohe, Jordy and more) stars in Fly Me To The Moon, a new documentary series about aerial surfing, brought to you by Stab and Carlton Dry. Episode one, The Death Of The Air-Reverse, is now playing over here. Have at it.
