StabMZ: (Not) Going Down On Cardi B Results In $5 Million Lawsuit

How RVCA’s surf team manager’s back tat got planted between Cardi B’s thighs.

On a fairly normal afternoon in Newport Beach, while hanging with his wife and kids, or handling RVCA dealings, Mike Brophy received an unusual text.

Something to the effect of, “Dude, is that you eating out Cardi B on her new album?”

Now, Brophy is a family man. He’s the RVCA surf team manager. He’s a father, a husband. And, when we lobbed him exactly the same question, due to current court proceedings he could not comment on the matter.

See, Brophy’s tiger vs snake back piece is instantly recognizable amongst Newport Beach lineups. When the Cardi B album dropped, it left many OC surfers scratching their heads asking, “Where have I seen that tattoo before?”

The real quandary is how exactly does this tattoo end up on that album cover? Pinterest? Instagram?

Cardi B’s “Gangsta Bitch Music Volume 1” hit #27 on the Billboard charts in 2016. The controversial cover went viral. And it turns out having his back stuck between Miss B’s thighs wouldn’t be something Brophy signed up for without compensation…if at all.

Years from now the album art, like so many others (think The Clash’s “London Calling”, Nirvana’s “Nevermind”, The Notorious B.I.G’s “Ready to Die”), will be printed on shirts and posters and sold to the masses. Cardi B has 22 million Instagram followers, and in September of last year, she dethroned Taylor Swift with “Brodak Yellow”, her single from the album in question, taking number one on the Billboard Top 100 singles chart.

This story made its way across pop culture media sites, including music icon, Billboard, and Maxim, the men’s magazine that brought you other cunninglingus gold such as: What She’s Thinking When You’re Going Down, Going Down on Her Turns Out to Be Healthy For Everyone, 7 Things to Know Before You Go Down On Her, This Is The Real Reason Why She Doesn’t Want You To Go Down On Her, Apparently, Some Women Aren’t Getting Enough Oral Sex, 6 Ways To Step Up Your Oral Sex Game, Ten Different Ways To Get Her Off, In Her Own Words…yes, Maxim has expertise on the subject rivaling Dr Ruth

So, we’re going to cite the most respected gossip publication this side of the internet, TMZ.

According to TMZ, “The artwork made for a seriously awkward moment when Brophy’s pre-K son asked what Daddy was doing in the picture, and who’s that girl? Brophy says his son keeps bringing it up, too. In the docs [obtained by TMZ] Brophy says he’s never met Cardi or spoken to her or her people — but he knows that’s his distinct back art of a tiger battling a snake … which he’s had for 10 years.”

For Brophy, there’s serious capital to be had.

But according to TMZ’s follow up on the ordeal, “Cardi B has an answer to the guy who’s suing her for lifting the tattoo on his back for her album cover — she says the dude on her album is black, and the plaintiff is lily white.

The album cover shows a guy giving Cardi B oral sex … his back prominently displayed on the cover.

Cardi B says the male model on the cover is a ‘young, dark-skinned male.’ The plaintiff is a middle-aged white dude from Newport Beach.”
