Welcome to Quiksilver King Of The Groms 2015

Hey kid. Put down that phone a minute. Think you’re the best under 18 in the world? Time to prove it. Quiksilver’s King Of The Groms is the realest junior event in surfing. The game is discovering the world’s best young hi-fi surfers. And, it’s become a fine art. Each year, the competition kicks it up. Wanna know how the next 20 years of surfing innovation look? Just watch a King Of The Groms final. Last year’s WSL World Champ, Gabriel Medina, made his name in the 2009 King Of The Groms. This isn’t a stepping stone – it’s a springboard. Any international junior contest that’s been won by surfers like Gabs, Mikey Wright, Jake Marshall and Wiggolly Dantas, or has seen national winners like Jack Robinson and Leo Fioravanti, is nothing to sleep on. Every year, the King Of The Groms format has evolved – and 2015 is no different. This year, entrants will submit a series of Instagram clips @quiksilver to prove that they’re #kingoftheair, #kingoftherail and #kingofthecombo. But, that’s only the first round. For the 30 groms who progress to round two… it’s time for a longer-player: A 1-2 minute hype clip, showing their surfing with the volume turned up to 11. This will live on Quiksilver’s KOTG website for public voting. Just remember: More hype = more votes. The top 7 will be chosen by public vote. Dane Reynolds, Craig Anderson and Jeremy Flores will each pick one clip, too. The Top 10 will move to the KOTG Secret Final. And that’s where things really get interesting. This year’s King Of The Groms final will be a world-first, unlike anything ever seen in competitive junior surfing… or, any competitive surfing for that matter. A live broadcast party of high performance surfing, music, and good times set in a secret location, with a new format of challenges to decide who’ll go home with a $20k cheque… or more importantly, the King Of The Groms crown. Time to make some noise. You Must Be This Tall To Ride. Are you aged between 12 and 18? You could be the King Of The Groms. If you live on planet Earth and ride a surfboard, it’s time to get your best clips together. Few minor details, you gotta have access to Instagram for round 1 and you must be under 18 before the 16th November 2015. You won’t wanna miss this. Maybe you want that huge $20,000 for taking out the title. Or, the solid $10,000 you’ll take home as runner-up. Perhaps you’ll just be happy with one of the $1000 cheques gifted to the winner of each individual challenge. Or maybe for you, the glory lies in the crown. But the real winner is any grom who makes it into the Top 10. The final round will be held at a secret location, in a never-before seen competitive surfing environment. This is an experience those finalists will remember forever. It’ll put them on the map. And, it’ll change surfing forever. Really… you won’t want to miss this. All Groms should head over the the King Of The Groms portal and get a full rundown.
