Sometimes it feels like your board’s being yanked so hard if the cord doesn’t snap your ankle might.

You look back into the turbulence as your board tombstones metres away, shaking back and forth like a shark’s dorsal in frenzy. The rope pulls, the Chinese burn stings. You’re cringing, waiting for the pop, but it never comes.

The explosion eventually passes and you retrieve your craft, brimming with appreciation for the legrope’s existence.

Rasmus King, younger brother of rising rocker grom-slash-adolescent, Kyuss (who displays similar potency for his age), recently had a transcendental hardware experience when he had his Creatures Of Leisure rope caught in an elevator door. Spoiler alert: The thing stretched. Like, really stretched.
