Add Some Colour To Your Surfing
And start by rocking some hardware with flair, by Gorilla.
Starting a clip for a surf product with the line, “I don’t surf” is an odd move. But then you catch a glimpse at artist Veenom’s work. And you understand why Gorilla chose the Frenchman to head the design for their newest line of fins and traction.
Veenom might not be the handiest with a board underneath his feet, but he’s been exposed to surf culture his whole life, and it shows in his art. His work is heavy with saltwater and concrete influences he’s gleaned from growing up around surfers and skaters between being born in Paris to now living in Biarritz. Drawing inspiration from artists like Rick Griffin, Veenom’s brush strokes drip with lines familiar of the 1960s Surfer magazine contributing artist, but with his own personal twist. Ideas taken from rock album covers, Italian comic books and French fashion magazines are all reflected in his work as well. The result? Well, some pretty neat accessories.
According to the man himself, he paints, “Cosmic surfing, pipeline under codeine with an intergalactic monster on the verge of a wipeout.” Intrigued? You can check out the range here.
