The Afends Hemp Revolution Cometh

As our social feeds become more and more populated with do-gooders trying to change the world one post at a time, one wonders how we can make an impact without having to broadcast to a bunch of semi-acquaintances. The answer lies in what you support with your hard-earned dollar. Money makes the economy spin around, does it not? So buy sustainable! Support those that give a damn about the survival of our blue marble. Hemp’s the green step forward in the textile/fashion industry. It’s time to start backing the weed and those that peddle it. Byron Bay label Afends is one of the early adapters and backers of this movement and they’ve got a killer range of green goods already in production. This Friday night Afends are putting on a free shindig at the Bondi Beach Road Hotel as a means to build some awareness around the magic fabric. A short film will be aired that “explores the modern day hemp industry – it’s sustainable and ecological qualities, as well as the unfounded taboo and stigma that surrounds it” as well as exploring the reasons why the big time fashion giants persist in their use of toxic and environmentally degrading practices when alternatives like this exist. The film will air at 7:30pm and Byron Bay band Waxhead will be dialling the vibes with a live set post screening.
